Funded by a subsidy from the Government of Norway

From Eric Dondero:

Coming to a school district near you?? Minneapolis, Dearborn/Detroit, Buffalo, NY, Newark, NJ, Philadelphia? In the name of multi-culturalism.

Muslim activist Aisha Shezadi is touring Norway schools urging the young schoolchildren to adopt Islam and even wear head coverings.

And the best part? It’s all funded by the hard-working taxpaying native Norwegians.

From the Norwegian news blog vg.no/nyhyeter:

The tour is sponsored by the Norwegian non-fiction Writers and Translators Association (NFF) and the organization Les! The latter receives an annual sum of NOK 2.8 million in operational support from the government through the Norwegian Council for Cultural Affairs.

“Our virulent enemy right now is radical Islam and those people that support radical Islam to blow up buildings and kill our people”

Via Newsbusters interview with Adam Baldwin who plays John Casey on NBC’s hit series “Chuck”:

But here’s the dirty little secret about Hollywood that I’ve talked about and people don’t talk about enough is that, most people in Hollywood are on the right side of the political spectrum. They just are. Because they live their lives like normal American people do. And the majority of normal Americans are center-right, because they want the government out of their lives, as John Casey does. He wants to protect people’s lives, keep government out of it. But, there’s political correctness that infects Hollywood. Our main enemy, while in the background may be Russia and China, our virulent enemy right now is radical Islam and those people that would support radical Islam to blow up our buildings and kill our people and all that stuff. It’s unfortunate that we aren’t able to address that on a TV show that bows to political correctness. What’s the Jack Bauer show, “24?” I mean, they did it. I wish we’d done more of it.

Hollywood conservatives, libertarians, just want to “work, get their money go home and raise their families”

Later in the interview:

So the conservatives, center-right, libertarians, whatever you want tocall it, they’ve just decided to remain silent and work, get their money go home and raise their families, which I admire and I respect.

Embrace Rand’s Uber-Capitalism

From the Boston Herald, “GOP leaders call on Mitt Romney to embrace wealth” Jan. 27:

Gov. Mitt Romney should stop running from the hefty $ 42.5 million income he reported over the past two years and embrace his success, baffled Republicans said yesterday..

Romney released more than 500 pages of federal income tax returns… [they] showed his substantial earnings of more than $ 42 million over 2010 and 2011, tax payments as low as 14 percent for a total of $ 6.2 million, and a few foreign bank accounts and investments in known tax havens such as Switzerland and the Cayman Islands

Edward Hudgins of the Atlas Society, which promotes the ideas of late uber-capitalist Ayn Rand, said Romney should stop his sheepish efforts to explain away his wealth.

“I would like to see Romney take the moral high ground and take pride in his wealth,” he said.

ABSOLUTE MUST SEE!!!

From Eric Dondero:

The Conservative led Canadian parliament recently passed legislation banning the wearing of face coverings at citizenship ceremonies.

Watch as a lone “protester” unexpectedly shows up. Things get kind of heated. We won’t spoil it for you. But the outcome is not what you would expect.

Tall, lean, dark hair, chiseled features

From Eric Dondero:

Libertarian-conservative blogger Stacy McCain TheOtherMcCain.com reporting from a un-expectedly “gi-normous” rally for Romney in downtown Naples the day before the Florida primary:

OK, so what’s Mitt’s secret? Let me put it in the simplest possible terms: Sex appeal. This will elicit a groan from ideologues who have spent the past year proclaiming that Mitt is a gutless flip-flopper, the worst RINO in the history of RINO-dom. Yet if you set aside mere politics long enough to see the two Florida frontrunners as the average Republican voter sees them, it is hard to miss the contrast between Mitt — the tall, lean multimillionaire entrepreneur with dark hair and chiseled features — and Newt, the pudgy intellectual.

Editor’s note – Our friend Stacy knows a bit about sex appeal. He’s fathered 5 children with a gorgeous brunette. Famous insider right blogger story: He won over his bride of 30+ years after appearing poolside one day in a revealing speedo. See photo here. Yes, that really is him.

17 point margin between GOP frontrunners

From Eric Dondero:

Wow! This is astounding. Just out this morning from Suffolk Univ. polling firm:

Florida

Romney 47%
Obama 42%

Obama 47%
Gingrich 40%

Here’s the breakdown:

Despite Newt Gingrich’s momentum within the Republican Party, he would be a weaker contender than Mitt Romney in a general election contest against President Barack Obama, according to a Suffolk University/7NEWS (WSVN-Miami) poll of likely voters in Florida.

Romney led Obama by 47 percent to 42 percent in the Florida survey, while Obama topped Gingrich by 9 points, 49 percent to 40 percent. Among independents, Obama led Romney 44 percent to 38 percent and opened up a 56 percent to 29 percent advantage over Gingrich.

The chief pollster comments:

“Newt Gingrich is weak among Florida independents and likely Democratic voters compared to Romney,” said David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk University Political Research Center in Boston. “If Florida is one of six key states that swings the national election, independents in Florida hold that key, and this poll suggests that Newt won’t be able to secure Florida for his party.”

The USS Ponce is described as an “Amphibious Landing Dock.” The description hardly communicates what the ship is to a person not already familiar with this type of vessel. It is a multi-purpose ship, capable of carrying a small number of vertical lift aircraft (usually helicopters), and a small number of assault boats (in its “well deck”), along with a contingent of Marines or other troops. The ship displaces about 9,000 tons. In contrast, an Amphibious Assault Ship displaces about five times that, and a Nimitz-class Aircraft Carrier about ten times that.

The Ponce and her sister ships, all but one of which have been decommissioned, are usually deployed as part of a larger flotilla, and usually given an auxiliary role. For example, in Operation Iraqi Freedom, the Ponce served to co-ordinate mine-sweeper operations.

The Ponce was itself scheduled for de-comissioning when – on a request from Central Command – it was requisitioned to serve as what the media is describing as the “mother ship” for special operation forces in the Persian Gulf region. The idea is that highly trained special ops teams could be deployed from the Ponce, via helicopter or assault boat, to deal with pirates, hostage rescue, high value targets and possibly also black ops.

As “mother ships” go, the Ponce is pretty small. And, besides, it is not the only ship being deployed to the region. Joining the 5th Fleet is the USS Abraham Lincoln, giving it three of our aircraft carriers (the other two being the Carl Vinson and the John Stennis). The Navy describes the deployment as routine. As for Amphibious Assault Ships in the 5th Fleet, the USS Makin Island recently and replaced the USS Bataan.

From Eric Dondero:

Newt’s made a great many mistakes in the last few days, but this one may be his biggest miscalculation. Shamelessly pandering for Florida voters by proposing a massive increase in the NASA budget and a greatly expensive space project to colonize the moon, is proving to be a failure.
From PPP:

Newt’s most publicized proposal of the week is getting panned by Florida voters- only22% support a colony on the Moon while 52% are opposed. Even among Gingrich’s own supporters only 34% favor it.

Editor’s comment – thankfully, this will probably keep him from proposing an Eco II environmental capsule for the Nevada desert before that key state primary.

From Eric Dondero:

The Tea Party of Western Michigan hosted a candidates forum for the 6 Republican candidates battling for the right to face incumbent Democrat Senator Debbie Stabenow in November.

While they may differ on style and qualifications for office, as the local paper reports, there’s virtually no difference on the issues.

From the HollandSentinel.com:

Limited government, balanced budget, right to work, reduced foreign aid, repealing national health care — “Yes.”

Unconditional amnesty for illegal immigrants, UN and international treaties that supersede American law, government-sponsored abortions or embryonic stem cell research, detention of American citizens — “No.”

“We all know government is the problem,” Republican candidate for Senate Pete Konetchy said during a Tuesday night Ottawa County Patriots forum.

Entitlement reform was a major topic of discussion. Later in the piece:

Several of the Republican candidates for Senate in a crowded field agree… To a man, candidates called for eliminating government waste by eliminating government departments.

Hekman called reform of welfare, Social Security and other “entitlements” the “question of this election.”

Boman, who is a libertarian, called for the elimination of the departments of housing and urban development, energy, commerce, education and the interior.

In a room full of “constitutional limited government tea party conservatives,” as Glenn put it, it was no surprise to hear references to the framing document in every round of questioning.

“The United States government is totally ignoring all aspects of the Constitution,” Konetchy said. “If you name it, they’ve ignored every single aspect of the Constitution.”

Note – Boman is a former Libertarian Party State Chair.

Exit question… No matter who wins this primary, ask yourself – Do we have a better chance of picking up this Senate seat with Romney or Gingrich at the top of the ticket??
